FEDERAL WAY, Wash. — A Federal Way man was shot and killed after reportedly rushing police officers with a knife during a domestic violence call Thursday evening.
According to the Federal Way Police Department, officers received 911 calls about "sounds of domestic violence" coming from a home on SW 337 Street and were sent to the scene around 8:06 p.m.
Police said they arrived minutes later.
Before officers were able to attempt to enter the home, they saw a man, approximately in his 40s, armed with a knife. He opened the front door and rushed the officers, police said.
According to police, the man did not comply with commands and was shot. He died at the scene.
No officers were injured. The officers involved are placed on paid administrative leave as a standard procedure. The Valley Independent Investigation Team responded and is investigating the incident.
