KENT, Wash. — A man was shot and killed at a bar in Kent on Thursday after reportedly fighting with the suspect.
Kent Police Department officers were dispatched to reports of a physical fight in the parking lot of a bar in the 1700 block of West Meeker Street at 10:46 p.m.
Dispatchers heard gunshots in the background while the 911 caller provided information over the phone. Other witnesses told 911 a man was shot and not breathing, according to Kent police.
Officers found the suspect and victim inside the bar.
Officers and firefighters with Puget Sound Regional Fire gave medical aid to the victim, a 30-year-old Federal Way man.
Witnesses told police that the suspect, a 25-year-old Kent man, and the victim were arguing in the bar and then stepped outside to the parking lot. The suspect and victim fought physically. Some witnesses told police the victim was holding a gun outside before the shooting.
The suspect went back inside the bar first. When the victim went back into the bar, witnesses told police the suspect shot him several times.
The suspect then sat on the ground and waited for police to arrive.
Police said the suspect admitted to shooting the victim. The suspect was taken into custody and booked into the King County Jail on suspicion of second-degree murder.
A handgun that was registered to the suspect was found on him. Police found a second handgun inside the bar.
