PULLMAN, Wash. — The Moscow man accused of kidnapping his daughter and fleeing to Mexico waived his detention hearing on Thursday.
According to the U.S. Attorney's Office, Aung was indicted by a grand jury on Thursday and waived his detention hearing. Aung was expected to appear in court on Thursday.
The U.S. Attorney's Office also said a federal grand jury indicted Aung's father, Jaimes, on Thursday also. Jaimes Aung is expected to appear in court for a first appearance on Friday, August 8 at 11 a.m.
Aaron Aung was booked into jail on an international parental kidnapping charge. Aaron was found in Mexico with his fiance and two-year-old daughter. Mexican authorities took Aung and his daughter to the port of entry near Nogales, Arizona, where U.S. Customs and Border Protection took custody of Aung and his daughter.
Court documents say Aaron did not appear at a scheduled custodial exchange with the daughter's mother, where he, his daughter and his fiancé, Nadia Cole, made their way to Mexico before eventually being found.
