Suspects ram Edmonds pot shop with stolen Kia in crash-and-grab burglary, 3 people arrested

Edmonds police are searching for additional suspects who stole thousands of dollars worth of product from Cannazone early Saturday morning.

EDMONDS, Wash. — The Edmonds Police Department have three suspects in custody and are looking for more after a smash-and-grab burglary at a pot shop on Saturday morning.

Surveillance video shows suspects ram a stolen Kia into Cannazone early Saturday morning near the 7200 block of 212th Street SW, while the shop was closed. The video shows six suspects go inside the business, break glass cases and steal thousands of dollars worth of products.

"It was a mess," said an employee. "The whole wall smashed in. There was broken glass everywhere, there was a bunch of product on the floor, that whole wall was on the floor. It was just scattered everywhere."

The suspects also tried to get away with the store's ATM, which employees said was found in the parking lot.

"It's stupid, its unfair, and its violating," the employee said. KING 5 is not naming the employee due to safety concerns.

Edmonds police said when officers arrived, they saw three suspect vehicles and multiple suspects burglarizing the business. Police said the three vehicles are all stolen Kias. The stolen cars took off and police later located two of them, which are being held as evidence.

Edmonds police told KING 5 that three of the suspects ran away near Maplewood Drive and Main Street. K9s located two of the suspects and police also used drones to help find the suspects.

The suspects, who are booked into jail, are a 23-year-old man from Federal Way, a 20-year-old man from Seattle and a 16-year-old boy from Auburn, according to police.

Arce said the store has been broken into three times in the three months and believes these suspects could be responsible for previous crimes.

"I feel like those people that did it this time were the same people that did it a month before and the same people that tried to break in next door last week," said the employee.

Despite the burglary, Cannazone remained opened Saturday and had regular customers come in.

"They're so upset about it because they worry about us. We build relationships with these customers and every time they come in here they're like, 'I'm so worried about you,'" the employee said. "It's comforting to know that we have such a good community and do care about us and the support that they show us."

The shop's owner immediately put more safety measures in place and installed new concrete post to stop thieves from making it inside the shop.

"We are very lucky that we have a good owner. She really cares about us and takes care of us," the employee said. "She tries to do a lot of things to protect us and that alone means a lot to us and I think every pot shop should be like that."
