SEATTLE — The Seattle Police Department is investigating at least 10 recent robberies in South Seattle, two of which occurred just five minutes apart on Delridge Way.
Officers responded to the 5400 block of Delridge Way SW on Sept. 15 after a victim said their earbuds were stolen at gunpoint.
The victim said they had just stepped off a King County Metro Bus when a masked gunman ran up to them and demanded the earbuds before running away.
While officers interviewed the suspect, another armed robbery was reported in the 3800 block of Delridge Way. Police said multiple suspects entered a store at that location and demanded money from the till and allegedly stole an employee's wallet, which contained cash, identification and bank cards.
Despite deploying a police K9, officers could not find the suspects in either case.
Police spokesperson Brian Pritchard told KING 5 they believe a few different groups are responsible for about 10 robberies over the last month or so in that part of the city.
In two of the crimes, the victims were juveniles.
"I feel unsafe in the evening," said Jay Dhadhal, a longtime clerk at Delridge Food Mart. "I always think that somebody will come and try to rob me."
The store is located across the street from where the robbery involving stolen earbuds was reported.
Dhadhal has also been a victim. He said the store has been robbed multiple times.
"They tried to attack me," Dhadhal said. "Two times, they robbed me - one time at gunpoint. One time they broke my pinky."
