Police investigating shootout in downtown Seattle

Seattle police said a security guard reportedly attempted to intervene in the altercation that led up to the shooting and was graved by a bullet.

SEATTLE — Two people were injured in a shootout in downtown Seattle Saturday night, according to the Seattle Police Department.

Seattle police said officers responded to reports of a shooting at 9:49 p.m. in the 1800 block of Minor Ave.

Arriving officers reportedly found a 26-year-old man with a gunshot wound and Seattle Fire Department crews provided aid.

The man was taken to the hospital in serious condition.

Police said an altercation broke out between the victim and suspect before the shooting. A security guard reportedly attempted to intervene and was grazed by a bullet. His injury was not life-threatening, police said.

The suspect fled the scene before police arrived.

Police said the gunfire damaged a nearby business and vehicle. Multiple shell casings were collected and two guns were also found at the scene.

Detectives with the Gun Violence Reduction Unit will continue the investigation. Police did not share any information on the possible suspect.
