Police pursuit of stolen vehicle ends in crash at Kent intersection

Five people were injured in the crash.

KENT, Wash. — Five people were injured after a police chase of a stolen vehicle ended in a crash Thursday in Kent.

Kent police said an officer located a stolen vehicle leaving a parking lot near Central Avenue and James Street just before 1 a.m. Thursday.

After the officer attempted to pull the vehicle over, a police pursuit was initiated and the vehicle sped off, according to police.

The stolen vehicle ran a red light at the intersection of 277th Street and the southbound Highway 167 offramp and collided with another car. The vehicle that was hit in the crash caught fire.

The 18-year-old driver of the stolen vehicle was treated at the hospital before being transported to King County Jail. Three passengers, ages 12, 13, and 14 suffered minor injuries and were treated at the hospital.

The 42-year-old driver of the other vehicle was also injured in the collision and was treated at the hospital.
