PUYALLUP, Wash. — Puyallup police are investigating after suspects allegedly used a stolen excavator to steal an ATM Saturday morning.
According to the Puyallup Police Department, officers responded to a report of an in-progress theft on the 1500 block of East Main in Puyallup at approximately 8:50 a.m.
Witnesses at the scene described seeing a large excavator being used to dismantle a stand-alone ATM before loading it into the bed of a black, older-model Ford F-350 pickup truck.
Three suspects were described as all wearing ski masks and dark clothing.
As officers arrived, they saw the suspect vehicle leaving the scene and attempted to stop it. The driver of the suspect vehicle fled at high speed, reportedly recklessly driving eastbound on East Main towards Sumner.
Police initiated a pursuit, however, the pursuit was soon terminated as the suspect vehicle approached the city limits of Sumner.
Police said the excavator used in the robbery had been stolen earlier from a construction site near the 400 block of River Road in Puyallup. Police also determined that the F-350 pickup truck was stolen from Kitsap County.
Detectives are continuing to investigate the incident, and the Puyallup Police Department is urging anyone with information or video footage related to the crime to come forward.
