SEATTLE — Five teenagers were arrested by Seattle police after they were seen running away from two stolen vehicles, new body camera video revealed.
In a blotter post Tuesday, the Seattle Police Department said officers responded to a reported vehicle collision and people running away from a stolen car near the Burke Gilman Trail and Northeast 65th Street on Sept. 12 just before 2:30 p.m.
Police said the suspects got into another stolen vehicle parked nearby and fled the area. Officers located the suspects near Sandpoint Way Northeast and Northeast 75th Street, and the suspects fled into Magnusson Park.
The suspects jumped out and ran from the vehicle while it was still moving, causing it to crash. Police chased the suspects through the park, quickly catching three suspects. Officers eventually tracked down the other two.
The teens were all between 13 and 15 years old, police said. The teens were booked into juvenile detention. They are accused of possessing a stolen motor vehicle, eluding police, taking a vehicle without permission and obstructing a public officer, according to police.
