Multiple guns found in Seattle apartment where shooting suspect was arrested

Seattle police said a firearm was recovered near a window in the suspect's residence that overlooked a parking lot believed to be where the victims were shot.

SEATTLE — The 24-year-old suspected of shooting two people in Seattle's Chinatown-International District early on the morning of June 23 was ordered held on $100,000 bail.

A judge found probable cause on June 24 for two counts of first-degree assault. The suspected shooter appeared before the judge for the first time Monday. Prosecutors asked for $750,000 bail and the judge set it at $100,000

According to the Seattle Police Department, at 12:29 a.m. officers found two men, a 37-year-old and a 28-year-old, shot near Eighth Avenue South and South King Street.

Police said the officers moved the victims to a secure location. They were treated at the scene by Seattle Fire before being taken to Harborview Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police officers determined the gunshots came from a nearby second-story apartment window. Officers found the suspect inside an apartment and arrested him.

The 24-year-old was taken to the hospital for an unrelated medical issue. Once he was cleared, he was booked into King County Jail.

Police said a firearm was found near the second-story window that overlooked a parking lot where the victims were believed to be shot. Multiple firearms and accessories were found inside the apartment and seized as evidence.

Officers with the Seattle Police Department found more than 20 guns and multiple firearm accessories inside his home, which was a concern for the judge.

“The court has reviewed the criminal history and knows there’s a lack of criminal history but concerns with the allegations and number of firearms found in the home," said King County District Court Judge Michelle Gehlsen. “The allegations in this, the court is extremely concerned there is a substantial likelihood that this suspect could commit a violent crime in the community.”
