Seattle pot shop targeted by burglars in crash-and-grab

Employees at Have A Heart say this isn't the first time their store has been hit.

SEATTLE — A Seattle pot shop in the Greenwood neighborhood was targeted by an overnight crash-and-grab, leaving employees frustrated.

The Seattle Police Department (SPD) responded just after 2 a.m. Tuesday for a commercial burglary call at North 85th Street and Greenwood Avenue N.

An unoccupied vehicle was found out front that appears to have been used to ram the front entrance of the business, a common tactic in similar incidents at dispensaries across western Washington.

Employees at the scene tell KING 5 that miscellaneous items like cartridges and edibles were taken, and that Have A Heart has been targeted before.

No suspects were located, but police say the group of 5-6 was seen leaving in two separate vehicles.

A store executive told KING 5 that out of Have A Heart's five locations around the region, they have seen three burglaries just in the past 10 days.

"Anything that we put on our building will not stop them, these are steel doors, this is not like a building with a glass front every time this happens I'm devastated, and I'm tired of waking up in the middle of the night," said Diane Walter, Vice President at Have a Heart.

The company is additionally frustrated as it tells KING 5 that insurance has not covered past damages to its locations.

Earlier this month, KING 5 spoke with the owners of a Renton vape shop that burglars hit two nights in a row.

In October, a very similar burglary to the one from Tuesday morning occurred in Olympia, with suspects ramming a vehicle into the pot shop, bringing in bags to grab products, and then getting away in a different car.
