Seattle shooting leaving man in serious condition draws large police response

No suspect information was immediately available from Seattle police.

SEATTLE — A Seattle shooting that left a 27-year-old man in serious condition early Thursday drew a large police response to the city's New Holly neighborhood.

Detectives with the Seattle Police Department (SPD) responded to a shooting in the 3900 block of South Othello Street just after 4:30 a.m. They found a man who was shot in the leg. 

A Seattle Fire Department (SFD) spokesperson confirmed to KING 5 that a 27-year-old man was shot and transported to Harborview Medical Center in "serious condition."

Witnesses told police that the 27-year-old was in an altercation before he was shot. Detectives are still working to figure out the circumstances that led to the shooting, according to SPD. 

The suspect has not been identified.

The scene was cleared after several hours.
