SEATTLE – Steven Powell, the father-in-law of missing Utah mother Susan Cox-Powell, was arrested Monday after a child pornography charge was reinstated against him.
Powell, 64, was charged in 2012 with 14 counts of voyeurism for allegedly taking photos of two young neighbor girls. He was also charged with possession of child pornography.
A judge threw out the child porn charges, saying the images did not constitute "sexually explicit conduct." The state court of appeals overruled the judge and Powell was arrested again, according to the Pierce County Prosecutor's Office.
Powell served 30 months in prison on the voyeurism charges and was released in March.
The photos were found while police were investigating Steven's son, Josh Powell. Josh is suspected of murdering his wife, Susan, in Utah in 2009.
Josh Powell killed himself and his two young sons in a Feb. 2012 fire at a home he rented in Graham, Wash.
