TUMWATER, Wash. — Investigators released new video of a cannabis warehouse robbery in Tumwater two weeks ago.
Police are still searching for the suspects involved. While robbing the warehouse, the suspects kidnapped an armed security guard and held him hostage while they took cannabis plants, rolled marijuana cigarettes and other products from the facility.
The security guard was held at gunpoint while the suspects carried out the robbery. He was then driven away from the warehouse and dropped off on the side of the road a couple of miles away.
The robbery occurred on April 5 at around 3:20 a.m.
Four thieves are shown on surveillance video from inside the facility. One angle captured the suspects passing goods outside through a window.
The suspects are accused of taking bins containing several thousand rolled marijuana cigarettes, marijuana plants and other products. One of them also rifled through a filing cabinet.
At one point, one suspect appears to shout something to the others, and they all run out of the facility.
This type of robbery is rare, according to Lieutenant Jen Kolb with the Tumwater Police Department.
"Having someone who is an armed security guard there get abducted, or get kidnapped, that is unusual," Kolb said.
Tumwater police have recovered all of the vehicles believed to be connected to the incident with the help of other agencies. They are now working with the Washington State Patrol Crime Lab to identify the suspects involved.
The losses to the cannabis processing warehouse are estimated to be in the tens of thousands of dollars.
