Tacoma man sentenced to 11 years for 2022 road rage shooting on I-5

Jadan Maurice Davis-Gunn pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 11 years in prison.

TACOMA, Wash. — A man accused of shooting a boy during a road rage incident along Interstate 5 in Tacoma in 2022 was sentenced to just over 11 years in prison on Jan. 29.

Jadan Maurice Davis-Gunn, 21, pleaded guilty to first-degree assault and second-degree unlawful possession of a firearm. His sentence is 135 months, with a year of flat time - time someone must serve without parole.

On Nov. 25, 2022, reports to Washington State Patrol stated a Honda CRV attempted to merge onto northbound I-5 from 56th Street when the driver of a Chevrolet Cruze, later identified as Davis-Gunn, tried to prevent them from getting onto the freeway.

According to probable cause documents, a brief road rage incident ensued.

Once the Honda merged, Davis-Gunn, who was 19 at the time, pulled along the passenger side of the Honda, rolled down the driver's window and then "fired several rounds from a semi-automatic handgun."

There were three people in the Honda. A then-11-year-old boy sitting in the back seat was hit by one of the rounds. He was driven to the nearest fire station and was treated for the wound.

A total of three rounds hit the vehicle. Two others were in the front passenger door but did not fully penetrate it.

Davis-Gunn's vehicle was found at his Tacoma home. He was arrested on Nov. 26.
