SEATTLE — A suspect in a Seattle crime spree that allegedly involved robbery and carjacking was arrested early Wednesday morning.
According to the Seattle Police Department (SPD), officers first responded to a reported robbery on 15th Avenue NW just before 6 p.m. A female victim said three men had taken her purse and backpack and fled in a black sedan.
Not long after the robbery, a two-car collision was reported near the intersection of Lake City Way Northeast and Northeast 115th Street, SPD said. Witnesses told police two cars were racing before they both crashed, with most of the occupants of the vehicles fleeing the scene. One passenger was found inside one of the vehicles with "serious" injuries according to SPD, and that person was transported to the hospital.
Just after 6:30 p.m., officers were called to a carjacking turned abduction. A witness said a suspect had jumped into the passenger seat of the victim's vehicle, held a gun to his head, and told him to drive away. When police eventually tracked the vehicle, the suspect tried to force the victim to speed away.
After a short pursuit, officers say the victim jumped out of the moving car and it stopped moving at the intersection of 5th Avenue Northeast and Northeast 163rd Street in Shoreline. The suspect allegedly then attempted to drive away before getting out of the car and trying to flee on foot.
Detectives were able to connect all of the above incidents back to the same suspect, and that person was booked on suspicion of multiple felony counts.
SPD says the search continues for the other suspects involved, and anyone with information can call the SPD Violent Crimes Tip Line at (206) 233-5000.
