PIERCE COUNTY, Wash. — Authorities arrested a man in his 60s for stabbing a victim following an apparent road rage incident in Pierce County on Tuesday afternoon.
The Pierce County Sheriff's Department said deputies were called just after 3 p.m. Tuesday to investigate a stabbing in the 17100 block of state Route 410 between Sumner and Bonney Lake. The 911 caller told deputies he was stabbed in the chest after an apparent road rage incident.
Investigators learned the 38-year-old victim was on a motorcycle while the 64-year-old suspect was driving a pickup truck. The pair got into an argument on 166th Avenue East because the motorcyclist was letting vehicles make left turns in front of him when he had the right of way, according to authorities. At that time, officials said the 64-year-old drove around the motorcyclist and onto eastbound SR 410. Halfway up the hill, the driver pulled into a restaurant parking lot and the motorcyclist followed.
According to officials, the men started arguing and bumped chests when the 64-year-old stabbed the victim in the chest. Investigators said the victim used a pocket knife to flatten one of the pickup truck's tires, preventing the suspect from leaving. Then the two men waited for the police to arrive.
Deputies arrested the 64-year-old suspect on suspicion of first-degree assault in connection to the stabbing. The 38-year-old victim was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to deputies.
