Suspect shot, killed by Pierce County deputies after domestic violence incident

The Pierce County Sheriff's Department was responding to a domestic violence incident before the shooting.

BUCKLEY, Wash. — A suspect was shot and killed by Pierce County Sheriff's deputies who were responding to a domestic violence incident in Buckley, according to the Pierce County Force Investigation Team (PCFIT).

Deputies responded to a domestic violence call on the 7500 block of 242nd Avenue Court East in Buckley at around 11:30 p.m. on Wednesday night. The woman who placed the call was able to exit the home.

At around 11:45 deputies alerted dispatch that the suspect was armed with a rifle. Deputies called for SWAT and a negotiator to respond to the scene.

Just over five minutes later, deputies reported that the suspect had come out onto the porch of the home with a gun, and reported that shots had been fired immediately after. The suspect was pronounced dead at the scene.

PCFIT said the suspect had pointed his weapon at deputies, prompting them to shoot. It's unclear how many deputies fired their weapons.

No deputies were injured in the shooting.

PCFIT will lead the investigation into the shooting.
