Suspect in custody after allegedly shooting and killing brother in Seattle

The suspect and the victim are believed to be family members according to SPD.

SEATTLE — A fatal shooting involving a pair of brothers in the Beacon Hill neighborhood of Seattle raised the city's homicide total to 64 so far in 2023, extending the yearly record.

A 40-year-old man was the victim of the shooting, which police responded to shortly before 5:30 a.m. Monday morning, the Seattle Police Department (SPD) said in a blotter post.

SPD said it arrived at a residence on Gould Avenue South and found a dead man with a gunshot wound.

Police said the victim and the 38-year-old suspect, who was identified and taken into custody at the scene, are brothers. Their mother called 911 after the deadly shooting, according to police.

SPD is investigating and said it would provide additional updates at a later date.
