A 15-year-old was put in custody after police recovered a gun while searching a Burien middle school Monday.
Sylvester Middle School was put on lockdown after a student saw the gun.
She immediately went to the principal to say she had seen the gun.
"This was a perfect example of the see-something-say-something campaign," said Highline School Districts spokesperson Catherine Carbone Rogers. "It's something we've been telling students for years."
The teen did not have the gun on him when he was put in custody, but police found a gun during a search of the school. Rogers said officers found the gun in the student's backpack.
