SEATTLE — A 15-year-old has died after he was shot in West Seattle late Wednesday night, according to the Seattle Police Department.
The shooting happened around 10:15 p.m. in the 6400 block of 30th Avenue Southwest. Patrol officers responded to "reports of screaming and sounds of gunfire."
When police arrived on the scene, they found the teen victim with a gunshot wound to the abdomen. He was taken to Harborview Medical Center in serious condition where he later died
Police say the suspect or suspects fled the scene and no arrests have been made. A firearm and one shell casing were found at the scene.
Anyone with information about the incident is urged to contact police.
Meanwhile, residents in the neighborhood told KING 5 they are concerned following the shooting. KING 5 spoke with a neighbor who asked to remain anonymous.
"I'm sure it happens everywhere, you know? But I feel like right now we need to come together as a community and figure out how to be without gun violence," they said.
