Teenager suspected of killing a man on a King County Metro bus turns himself in

After remaining at large for over a month, 17-year-old Miguel Rivera Dominguez is now booked in jail, according to the King County Sheriff's Office.

SEATTLE — The teenager suspected of shooting and killing a 21-year-old man on a Metro bus near White Center turned himself in Monday morning to the King County Sheriff's Office (KCSO).

He is now in custody and has been booked into jail.

The King County Prosecuting Attorney's Office said Miguel Rivera Dominguez, 17, has been charged with first-degree murder and second-degree unlawful possession of a firearm. He turned himself in "without incident," according to KCSO

Detectives believe Dominguez killed 21-year-old Marcel Da'jon Wagner, who appeared to be asleep, on a King County Metro bus on Oct. 3. Dominguez allegedly fired five rounds from "point blank range" into Wagner's head and neck, according to charging documents. Wagner died from multiple gunshot wounds, according to the King County Medical Examiner's Office.

Dominguez was identified on Oct. 16 as the suspect, nearly two weeks after the shooting.

Prosecutors have asked the court to hold the defendant on $3 million bail.

Police said there were about 15 other passengers on the bus at the time of the shooting, but the transit operator and other passengers were not injured.

A specialized search followed afterward, which included Guardian 1 aerial support and a K9 unit, but Dominguez remained at large until turning himself in on Monday.

According to KCSO, officials do not know any ties between the victim and the suspect.

In response to the shooting, King County Metro said in a statement that it will add security on the H Line for the foreseeable future, which includes expanding the number of transit security officers that patrol buses and transit centers.
