CLALLAM COUNTY, Wash. — Authorities in Sequim arrested three suspects on Thursday accused of robbing three people at gunpoint in connection to alleged drug trafficking.
The Clallam County Sheriff's Office (CCSO) announced Friday that it was called along with Sequim police to a report of a home invasion robbery March 28 around 5:15 a.m. near Riverside Road. The 911 caller reported people wearing face masks showed up in a white SUV and were carrying guns, CCSO said.
The caller was in the property's main house, but the suspects went into an unattached mother-in-law unit and held three people at gunpoint, according to CCSO. The suspects demanded that the victims turn over their belongings and empty their pockets. In addition to phones and car keys, the suspects are accused of stealing power tool batteries and power tools.
CCSO said the suspects attempted to flee in their vehicle but were stopped by law enforcement and eventually detained. Three suspects, ages 32, 44 and 40, were taken into custody. KING 5 is not identifying the trio of suspects as they have yet to be formally charged in the case.
Initial investigation suggests the crime was connected to drug trafficking, CCSO said in its release.
A search warrant was eventually obtained for the suspects' vehicle and two handguns as well as the keys, cellphone and power tool batteries stolen from the house were retrieved.
The suspects were booked on suspicion of robbery and burglary in the first degree as well as theft in the third degree.
