SEATTLE — A man in his 40s is dead after being shot while inside a tiny home village in Seattle's Interbay neighborhood Monday evening.
The man was shot in the head and taken to Harborview Medical Center in critical condition the evening of Monday, Dec. 16, according to the Seattle Police Department. He died Tuesday morning.
A suspect has not been caught.
The shooting occurred at Salmon Bay Village, a short-term shelter site for people experiencing homelessness. The Low Income Housing Institute confirmed the shooting of a "client" occurred around 7:30 p.m. on Dec. 16.
According the the housing institute, an unknown person outside the shelter shot the victim from the sidewalk. Staff rendered aid and called 911.
Police found evidence of a possible suspect and are investigating, according to Seattle police.
The circumstances leading up to the shooting are under investigation.
Salmon Bay Village is just south of the Ballard Bridge. It is a combination of tiny homes and safe parking for people living in RVs. The village serves between 40-50 people at any given time, according to the housing institute.
