Tony Reed pleaded guilty to two felony counts of rendering criminal assistance Friday, facing a drastically lesser sentence than the double murder charges prosecutors initially charged him with.

He now faces 12 to 14 months in prison.

Reed admitted to helping his brother, John Reed, hide his neighbors' bodies and their cars to try and cover up their murders.

John Reed is accused of shooting his neighbors, Patrick Shunn and Monique Patenaude, to death last April.

When Tony Reed turned himself in, he showed police where to find the bodies. He was also able to provide an alibi that proved he wasn't present when his brother allegedly shot two people.

"It became pretty apparent we could not place Tony in Arlington on [April] 11th until almost midnight," said prosecutor Craig Matheson. "We were interested in getting the charges right. We were not interested in charging someone with murder we didn't think did it."

Reed's attorney said his client was eager to put this all behind him, but would not comment on whether Tony was willing to help track down his brother.
