BELLEVUE, Wash. -- The King County Medical Examiner s office has formally identified the victim of a shooting at a Bellevue nightclub.
The ME says 30-year-old Deshawn Milliken died of multiple gunshot wounds, following the incident early Christmas Eve at the Munchbar in Bellevue Square. Several Seattle Seahawks were in the bar at the time of the incident and escaped without injury.
Bellevue Police say 19-year-old Ja Mari Jones pulled the trigger. He s the same man, who as an adult, was convicted of manslaughter in the death of Ed Tuba Man McMichael after a beating and robbery near Seattle Center. Bellevue Police have now issued a warrant for his arrest.
Milliken was the homecoming king, student body vice-president, and football star at Seattle s Garfield High School, according to a 2001 story on KING5 News. Milliken was, at that time, accused of assault in the infamous Pioneer Square Mardi Gras Riots. He has had several incidents involving police since. It s unclear if he had any connection with Jones.
The State Liquor Control Board says it will investigate the circumstances which would have allowed a minor to get inside the nightclub. LCB Spokesperson Mikhail Carpenter said Wednesday that the agency had requested all police reports. Carpenter says Munchbar has had five warnings or violations since 2011. Efforts to reach the club s owners have been unsuccessful.
