SEATTLE — New video shows the attack on a cyclist in Seattle's University District that led to two former Husky football players being charged with assault.
Tylin "Tybo" Rogers and Diesel Gordon allegedly attacked a cyclist on March 11, according to court documents. The two initially pleaded not guilty.
Gordon changed his plea on Aug. 12. He pleaded guilty to assault and his reckless driving charge was dismissed. His sentence was deferred for two years - it will be dismissed if he has no new criminal violations in that time frame. He had to pay a small court fee and served 24 hours of community service.
Rogers' next hearing on the assault is set for Oct. 31.
According to a Seattle Police Department report, the bicyclist told investigators he was riding in the University District when two people in a car behind him started yelling at him to get on the sidewalk.
The bicyclist told police he flipped them off and spat at the driver. The driver then tried to hit him.
The cyclist told police he tried to get away but they found him shortly after.
In the video, you can see Rogers and Gordon push and spit on the cyclist until another person approaches.
Police were able to identify the two former Husky players because the attack was caught on surveillance video and both men were wearing UW athletics-branded clothing.
Rogers is also facing multiple rape charges after allegedly attacking two women during the 2023 UW football season. He previously pleaded not guilty in a King County court and the case is awaiting trial.
Rogers and Gordon are not currently registered at UW, the university said.
