BELFAIR, Wash. -- Mason County sheriff s deputies are trying to piece together what led up to a shooting in Belfair Tuesday night. A man was airlifted to Harborview in Seattle after being shot multiple times and a woman is in custody in connection with the shooting.
The shooting happened inside a car in front of a trailer home in the 500 block of Northeast Larsen Boulevard in Belfair around 10:45 p.m. Tuesday night.
This is a very quiet area, a family area. This is very uncommon, said Mason County Sheriff's Detective William Adam.
A number of markers could be seen on the ground around several bullet shell casings on the property.
It was real brief I saw her. I could see anger in her. I didn t know if she had the gun or not so I got out of the way, said Brad McClimans, a man who lives in a camper on the property.
I just wanted to get out of there cause I didn t know if she still...for someone to do that they ve got to be in a different state of mind and I didn t want to be around that state of mind, McClimans added.
The man is in critical condition at Harborview. Detectives are still investigating the relationship of the two and what motivated the suspected female shooter to open fire.
We don t even know if there was a domestic relationship, said Detective Adam.
