SEATTLE — A woman is in the hospital after being shot during a robbery in Seattle's Chinatown International District late Sunday night.

The Seattle Police Department (SPD) said officers were called to the 600 block of South Jackson Street just before midnight for a reported robbery.

Upon arrival, police said they found an adult woman with a gunshot wound to her abdomen. Aid was provided at the scene and the woman was transported to Harborview Medical Center in "serious but stable" condition.

Police said the investigation revealed that two unidentified suspects entered the business and demanded money. After an altercation between them and the victim, a shot was fired that struck the woman. Police would not identify the business that was targeted.

The suspects eventually fled the scene with stolen cash, police said. Detectives are actively investigating and ask anyone with information to call 911 or the Violent Crimes Tip Line at (206) 233-5000.
