SEATTLE - Actor Paul Eenhoorn is an overnight success story decades in the making. With the release of the Sony Pictures Classics film, Land Ho!, Eenhoorn's perseverance finally seems to be paying off.
After decades of starring in low budget movies, Eenhoorn is now on a critically acclaimed hot streak that began with his starring role in the Sundance award winner, This is Martin Bonner. Critics raved about Eenhoorn's understated and dignified performance.
"At the time I shot that I was pretty much depressed," said Eenhoorn. "I don't know if it was a performance or just me being me on the day."
Born in Australia, Eenhoorn followed his wife to Bellevue, WA 15 years ago.
Now comes Land Ho!, an indie comedy shot in Iceland. While the louder Earl Lynn Nelson may be the scene-stealer in this buddy picture, it's Eenhoorn who holds the movie together.
"I think my timing is right and I leave that up to the Gods," said Eenhoorn. "I think I'm in the right place at the right time and Michael Caine's getting older and Anthony Hopkins has retired. Is there anyone else?"
Land Ho! can be seen at the Landmark Guild 45th until Thursday, September 4th.
