Live improv show to take stage in Tacoma with actors Colin Mochrie, Brad Sherwood

Two of the most known performers from 'Whose Line is it Anyway?' are coming to Tacoma's Pantages Theater on Feb. 3. Colin Mochrie talks with KING 5 Mornings.

TACOMA, Wash. — When asked what drew him into improv, actor and comedian Colin Mochrie said, "laziness." His response is as natural and humorous as his countless performances on stages around the world.

Mochrie performed on both the British and U.S. versions of Whose Line is it Anyway?  for several years. The show just wrapped its final season in 2023.

"It's not boring," Mochrie said about performing improv. "Every show is different."

Each show offers audience participation opportunities through topic suggestions or even getting on stage with the actors.

Mochrie humored KING 5 Weekend Mornings Anchor Farah Jadran by taking an improv scenario live on the Saturday morning show via Zoom. To watch Mochrie's take on a news anchor who had too much espresso and can only use country music lyrics to give a traffic report, click the video player above.

Over the years on Whose Line is it Anyway? Mochrie would meet special guests who would join the cast for skits.

Among the most memorable guests for Mochrie were Richard Simmons and the late Robin Williams.

"[Robin Williams] was a delight to work with," Mochrie said. "One of those, where you meet your hero and he is perfect in every way. That was a special memory."

Currently, Mochrie tours the country with his two acclaimed shows - Scared Scriptless with Brad Sherwood, which just celebrated its 20th anniversary. It's now the longest-running improv tour show in history. Mochrie also tours with HYPROV: Improv Under Hypnosis with Master Hypnotist Asad which is in the midst of an Off-Broadway run.

For Western Washington improv fans, Tacoma Arts Live is presenting Colin & Brad: Asking For Trouble! with Mochrie and Sherwood. The duo will be at Tacoma's Pantages Theater on Saturday, Feb. 3 at 7:30 p.m.
