SEATTLE — Seattle police are investigating a fire at Trinity Nightclub in the Pioneer Square neighborhood as an arson.
Seattle police said the fire was intentionally set around 2:40 a.m. Monday.
It broke out in a space between the ceiling and the roof, making it difficult for firefighters to access.
"So crews were fighting the fire from the interior and from the roof," said a Seattle fire spokesperson.
The fire was under control by 3:30 a.m. The fire started in a section of the building that is not easily accessible.
No one was injured.
Trinity's General Manager Guy Godefroy shared the following statement Monday afternoon, "We were not open for business at the time, and thankfully nobody was inside of the building. Seattle fire responded quickly, and in addition to our own internal fire suppression system, the damage was able to be kept to a minimum, and we will be able to repair it and reopen, hopefully in time for our 15th annual world-renowned Halloween weekend. We appreciate everyone’s concern and support. Everyone is safe, and we will be back soon!”
Seattle fire officials said a second fire was discovered in the basket of a nearby rideshare bike. That was quickly extinguished.
Nightclub staff said Trinity has security cameras, which will be reviewed in the ongoing investigation.
The fire happened just ahead of an already planned community meeting Monday evening to talk about safety challenges for business owners and residents in the Pioneer Square area.
The focus of the meeting is expected to be about crimes against businesses.
It wasn't clear if the Trinity Nightclub fire would be brought up specifically in during the meeting.
