SEATTLE — Three beaches at Seattle parks were closed this week after high levels of bacteria were found.
According to the Seattle Parks Department, Madrona Beach, Matthews Beach and Madison Beach on Lake Washington were closed due to recommendations from Public Health - Seattle & King County. A warning advisory was also issued for Golden Gardens Beach.
Other beach closures include Renton's Gene Coulon Memorial Beach Park and Waverly Park Beach Park in Kirkland.
Seattle Parks said people and pets should stay out of the water at the closed beaches.
There is no estimated time of reopening for the beaches but it is recommended to check testing results each week on the county's website.
Public Health - Seattle & King County tests for bacteria every week in mid-May through mid-September. Sometimes a beach can have a problem with toxic algae or an increased amount of poop from people, pets, or wildlife in the water.
