SAN FRANCISCO — DocuSign's two-day conference Momentum in San Francisco will occur as livestream events only due to growing concerns over the spreading coronavirus (COVID-19).
On the event page's FAQ, a statement from DocuSign explains the company has "been closely monitoring the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) situation. Given the continuing developments and uncertainties, as well as rising concerns we've heard, we feel the right thing to do is to 'go virtual.'"
The online conference will include two separate two-hour events March 3 and March 4.
DocuSign was originally founded in Seattle in 2003. Now based in San Francisco, the company's largest office remains in the Emerald City.
The spread of the coronavirus is jamming up business as companies suspend production, meetings, events, and business travel. Facebook is canceling its annual conference for developers, usually held in late April or early May in Northern California, where officials are trying to locate everyone who was in contact with the first known coronavirus case in the U.S. of unknown origin: a woman lives in Solano County.
The Geneva Motor Show was also canceled after the Swiss government announced an immediate ban Friday on all "public and private" events in the country involving more than 1,000 people as a measure to halt the spread of COVID-19.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average sank nearly 1,200 points on Feb. 27, deepening a week-long global market rout caused by worries that the coronavirus outbreak will wreak havoc on the global economy.
The selloff gave U.S. stocks their worst one-day drop since 2011.
