SPANAWAY, Wash. — One western Washington family is self-quarantining out of an abundance of caution because a wife and mother is a cancer survivor.
“I don’t know if I could live with myself knowing that I’m the reason my wife got sick,” Marcus McLucas said.
The decision to self-quarantine was made because of the coronavirus. McLucas also quit his job to keep his wife safe.
McLucas worked at the Emerald Queen Casino in the IT department. He said that recently, working in proximity to the public just wasn’t worth it.
“When I asked if I could wear a mask, they said it might not be a good idea because ‘we don’t want to scare the guests,’” McLucas said.
The casino didn’t immediately respond to our requests about how they’re handling the virus but, on their website, they do address the coronavirus.
On the same day McLucas quit the casino, he said it shut down for four hours for deep cleaning.
The casino has “postponed shows” and added “extra cleaning patrols." Customers showing symptoms will be “asked to leave.”
