SEATTLE — The annual Washington Healthplanfinder open enrollment period is currently underway.
It offers 82 healthcare plans and 12 dental plans that comply with the requirements of the Affordable Care Act.
Washington Health Benefit Exchange CEO Ingrid Ulrey joined KING 5 Mornings to discuss the process and some changes.
Washington has become the first state to open its health insurance marketplace to all residents, including undocumented immigrants. You do not need U.S. citizenship, a green card, or other immigration papers, according to Ulrey. Enrolling does not affect immigration status or citizenship applications for you, your family, or anyone who lives with you.
When people shop at wahealthplanfinder.org, federal and state subsidies based on income are automatically applied.
Ulrey said Washington is one of the few states to offer additional savings for low-income earners. Some people may qualify for Cascade Care Savings if their household income falls within a certain range.
