SEATTLE — A network outage that forced MultiCare hospitals to suspend surgeries and procedures at some facilities in Washington state on Monday has been resolved.
The outage impacted hospitals in the Puget Sound region and in Spokane. The outage affected electronic health records and other systems.
MultiCare said in a release the outage was caused by a service interruption with one of their vendors. The patients affected by the outage have been contacted, the hospital said in a statement.
MultiCare has seven hospitals in the Puget Sound and two in Spokane. A spokesperson said "most" of the MultiCare hospitals suspended surgeries and procedures Monday but did not specify which of the locations were affected.
"Because of a service interruption with one of our vendors, MultiCare is experiencing a network outage in the Puget Sound and Inland Northwest regions that is affecting multiple systems including our electronic health record," MultiCare said in a statement. "Teams are working quickly to restore access. Some of our facilities are pausing elective surgeries and procedures while we work through this situation. Services are significantly limited at our Indigo Urgent Care locations. Patients affected by this outage have been contacted. MultiCare has robust continuity plans in place for times like this. Rest assured patients currently in our hospitals are safe and being cared for. We apologize for any inconvenience this causes our patients and their families.
MultiCare said the outage was not a cyberattack and patient data is secure.
