MONTESANO, Wash. - The Grays Harbor County judge stabbed Friday afternoon returned to work Monday morning.
I am relieved I am here, said Judge David Edwards. I told the attorneys today I was very glad to see them.
Edwards and Grays Harbor Deputy Polly Davin were injured during a courthouse attack Friday.
Investigators believe Steven Kravetz was responsible for the incident.
Edwards was stabbed in the back of the neck and he sprained his thumb while fighting with the attacker.
Deputy Davin was shot once in the shoulder. She has been released from the hospital, but has not returned to work.
Edwardssaid he thought Davin wasgoing to die after he watched her get shot.
I have a strong faith, said Edwards, And I know Deputy Davin does. Also, I think we were just fortunate.
Stephen Kravetz made his first court appearance on Monday.
Kravetz had a warrant out for his arrest from a 2005 domestic violence incident.
In 2005, he was arrested for attacking his mother - the same woman who helped police track him down in Olympia on Saturday
When the judge said Kravetz could not have contact with her, Kravetz objected.
Both me and my mother are objecting to the validity of the complaints made by the sheriff's department regarding the accusations of that case... the 2005 case, he said.
According to investigators he was defending himself in that matter and got the trial delayed until 2009. When the trial was set to begin, he never showed. There has been a warrant for his arrest ever since.
Investigators say they don't know if past issues caused Kravetz to shoot Deputy Polly Davin and stab Superior Court Judge David Edwards.
Kravetz will be held at the Mason County Jail on $750,000 bail.
