ARLINGTON, Wash. — One person was killed and three others were injured in a crash on Friday night near Arlington. Washington State Patrol (WSP) officials said the crash was caused by a person driving at a speed too fast for the weather conditions.

The three-vehicle crash occurred around 7:14 p.m. along state Route 530 near Jim Creek Road in Arlington.

According to WSP, a Chevy pickup truck turned on SR 530 and was hit from behind by a driver in a red Ford F150 truck. Officials say the Ford driver was speeding.

The Chevy pickup was pushed off the road and landed in a ditch. The driver and the passenger, both 20 years old, were injured.

The Ford truck rolled into oncoming traffic and was hit head-on by a Ford Escape SUV. The SUV driver, a 27-year-old, was injured.

The driver of the Ford truck, who was the only person in the vehicle, died at the scene. Details about the person were not available, pending next of kin notification.

WSP officials say the cause of the crash was driving at a speed too fast for the conditions. It is not yet known if drugs or alcohol were also involved factors.

The roadway was reopened at 12:26 a.m. Saturday morning.

Heavy rain fell in the north and west of Seattle Friday and into the start of the weekend. Wind gusts over 60 miles per hour were also recorded in Snohomish, Everett and Whidbey Island.
