15-year-old killed in Burien shooting over the weekend

The Highline School District is aware of the teen's death and is working to help youth who are grieving, according to the King County Sheriff's Office.

BURIEN, Wash. — A 15-year-old boy was killed in a shooting in Burien over the weekend, according to the King County Sheriff's Office (KCSO). 

Deputies were called to the 16200 block of 11th Avenue Southwest around 3:22 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 11. When they arrived they found the 15-year-old victim had sustained a gunshot wound. The boy died as a result of his injuries. 

The boy's family and his friend were on scene at the time of the incident and are cooperating with investigators, according to KCSO. There was no other information provided about what led up to the shooting or if there are any suspects. 

The KCSO Major Crimes Unit is investigating. 

The Highline School District is aware of the teen's death and is prepared to help students who are grieving, according to KCSO.
