SNOHOMISH COUNTY, Wash. — A 42-year-old woman was shot and killed in Arlington on Sunday afternoon, according to the Snohomish County Sheriff's Office (SCSO).
The 19-year-old suspected of killing her died in Lake Stevens while trying to flee from law enforcement.
At around 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, SCSO deputies were called to the 1900 block of 200th Street Northeast for reports of a shooting. When deputies arrived they found the 42-year-old victim with multiple gunshot wounds.
Deputies performed lifesaving measures but the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
Major Crimes Unit detectives learned that there was a verbal altercation between the victim and a 19-year-old male suspect before the shooting. The suspect then fired multiple shots at the victim, according to police.
The 19-year-old fled in a car after deputies arrived at the scene. SCSO deputies initiated a pursuit with the man at around 2:45 p.m.
Officers initiated a PIT maneuver on the suspect's car, during which he was ejected from his vehicle. Officers attempted to provide life-saving care, but the man died at the scene, according to the Snohomish County Multiple Agency Response Team (SMART).
The identities of the 42-year-old woman and the 19-year-old man will be released by the Snohomish County Medical Examiner's office.
SMART is investigating the crash.
