LAKEWOOD, Wash. — Two children and an adult were taken to the hospital after a fire broke out at a Lakewood apartment Wednesday afternoon.
According to West Pierce Fire and Rescue, the fire started around noon at a building on Washington Avenue SW.
The two children are in serious condition at a nearby hospital.
The fire was contained to one unit, but three others suffered smoke damage. Occupants in the building's four units are displaced. The Red Cross is assisting them.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
