Federal Way theme park contest challenges 6 people to sit in coffins for 24 hours

The Crypt Keeper Challenge is the newest addition to the theme park’s annual Fright Fest happenings.

FEDERAL WAY, Wash. — Do you think you could spend 24 hours inside a dark, confined space? If so, Wild Waves Theme Park in Federal Way has the perfect contest for you.

The Crypt Keeper Challenge is the newest addition to the theme park’s annual Fright Fest happenings.

Six applicants will be chosen to spend 24 hours inside a coffin, and subjected to several “sinister challenges,” according to the park’s website. If you can make it the entire time, you’ll win two 2025 Wild Waves season passes with a season dining plan and two VIP Fright Fest fast passes.

The challenge begins at 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 4 and ends at 8 p.m. the following day. Contestants will be exposed to creepy bugs, roller coaster rides in the dark and solo wanders through the Chamber of Souls haunted house, among other scary side quests.

Applicants must be 18 and cannot have any medical conditions preventing them from lying down for long periods of time.

The contest does include scheduled breaks, but possible participants should be aware they will spend most of the 24 hours lying inside a coffin.

All submissions are due by Sept. 26, if you dare.
