3 men burned in drug-related fire in Moses Lake

Three men were airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle for treatment of severe burns caused by a flash fire when the men were attempting to use drug paraphernalia.

MOSES LAKE, Wash. - Three men were airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle for treatment of severe burns caused by a flash fire when the men were attempting to use drug paraphernalia.

The Grant County Sheriff's Office says the three men were inside a small garden shed next to 4421 Airway Dr NE and were using butane in an attempt to extract resin from marijuana. During the process, the butane accumulated inside the small shed and ignited when one of the men tried to light a cigarette.

All three men were seriously burned and were first taken to Samaritan Hospital in Moses Lake. They werelater transferred to the burn unit at Harborview Medical Center.

It was initially believed the incident was caused by a bomb.

The Grant County Sheriff's Office investigation is continuing.
