COVINGTON, Wash. - At Tahoma High school, it's punishment time instead of playoffs for dozens of student-athletes.
Parents received a letter from the school district explaining that there were two parties Halloween weekend where students were found with alcohol and/or drugs.
A school investigation revealed 41 student-athletes had attended at least one of those parties, a violation of the school's athletic code. As a result, the students have to forfeit a portion of their athletic season.
"Kids need to start taking responsibility on themselves and know the consequences," said one parent.
Terry Duty, the Principal at Tahoma High school, expressed disappointment.
"Our student-athletes are well aware of the Tahoma School District Athletic Code and the consequences of these poor choices," said Duty.
The discipline will have an impact Friday when 14 varsity football players will be off the field as the school takes on Camas High School.
