This was the second year in a row that 8-year-old Zachary Darner collected toys for children undergoing treatment in local hospitals.
But this year Darner broke his record and raised 1,589 toys from 26 different toy donation sites in Kitsap County.
“It was outstanding, because I did not know I could get almost 1,600 toys," said Darner.
Darner says that he felt inspired to start the toy drive after his brother, Noah, was twice checked into the emergency room.
Darner donated the toys to three different local hospitals on Thursday.
“It makes me feel happy that kids at hospitals will be excited at Christmas time," said Darner.
