The houseboat featured in the film Sleepless in Seattle, which changed real estate in Seattle's South Lake Union neighborhood, still attracts tourists looking to see where Tom Hanks' character lived.
Evening Magazine's Michael King got a rare peek into the houseboat two decades after the movie was shot.
Loretta Metcalf remembers telling her boyfriend Jim Healy that she wanted to live in the houseboat after seeing Sleepless in Seattle.
They had no plans to move from where they were living in Princeton, NJ until Healy had a job interview in Seattle. While in Seattle, Metcalf visited the house from the movie and saw that it was for sale. Healy got the job -- and Metcalf got the houseboat. They were married six months after buying it.
Metcalf and Healy said they are honored to take care of a Seattle landmark.
We love it. We like tourists, said Metcalf.
The house doesn't have curtains, Healy said.
If you want to look out, you have to let people look in. It works out perfectly fine, Healy said.
