BELLEVUE, Wash. — Ahead of Veterans Day, a Bellevue-based non-profit organization is working to reach out to military and first responder families.
While numerous charities offer various types of support and resources to veterans, active-duty military service members and first responders, Stronger Families leaders say their offerings and mission are unique.
Natasha Ryan, director of engagement and communication for Stronger Families, said military and first responders have unique occupational experiences which can add stressors that affect their relationships and families.
Stronger Families created a mission more than 10 years ago to "offer hope and tools to strengthen their family unit." By doing this, the organization said it will impact future generations in a positive way.
Through relationship retreats - Ryan said military service members and first responders receive several types of support.
Founders Noel and Karissa Meador created the "OXYGEN seminar." Later, they developed the personality test, the OXYGEN Profile Assessment, which helps better identify qualities within each participant. To date, Stronger Families reports OXYGEN has served military, veteran, and first responder heroes in nine countries, on 76 installations (military bases), in 36 states, and now has six chapters nationwide.
