BELLEVUE, Wash. — Bellevue police are searching for juveniles who were in a vehicle that "deliberately drove" into a 13-year-old bicycling on July 13, seriously injuring him.
Police say the hit-and-run collision occurred around 8:20 p.m. in the 9500 block of Lake Washington Boulevard NE.
A witness told officers that a silver Hyundai Elantra drove into a bike lane and hit the 13-year-old, who was riding from a park. The witness said it appeared the vehicle deliberately swerved into the victim.
Prior to the collision, officers learned the people in the car threw a shoe at the victim and screamed at them.
The victim was taken to Overlake Hospital and treated for serious but non-life-threatening injuries. They were released the same day.
The witness described the driver of the Hyundai as a young female with short, black hair. No additional descriptions of the driver or other people in the vehicle were provided.
The Hyundai was reported to have a red-black sunshade.
If the people in the car are found, they could potentially face second-degree assault and third-degree malicious mischief charges.
Bellevue police are asking any witnesses to contact them by calling 425-577-5656 or emailing Detective Jeff Disney at jdisney@bellevuewa.gov.
