Crews are repairing a natural gas line in Bellevue Tuesday morning after it was damaged by a driver who ran into a shopping center, according to Bellevue police.
Nearly 100 people had to be evacuated from apartments connected to the center. They were notified via reverse 911 calls. Residents have since been let back into the building.
Earlier Tuesday morning at around 1:30 a.m., a police officer attempted to pull over a driver who then took off at a high rate of speed. The officer turned off his lights and gave up on the pursuit. Shortly after, a call came in about a car crashing into the Lake Hills Shopping Center on 156th Avenue Southeast.
Puget Sound Energy is at the shopping center working to fix the damaged natural gas line.
Police are still looking for both people who were in the car. They fled the scene on foot.
